CONSULTATION FAQ

HOW LONG IS A CONSULTATION?

Consultations are 1-hour long at our Two Families Law office in Durham, NC. See our address and directions below.

WHAT IS THE COST?

The cost of a consultation is $350/hr, which is the same as our hourly rate should you decide to move forward with us. You'll leave your consultation with an estimate of total costs for your process.

WHAT WILL BE DISCUSSED?

We'll talk about the basics of NC family law, the out-of-court processes that we provide, and how that all might apply to your specific situation. We can also discuss any pressing questions on your mind. You'll leave with some options for a plan to move forward.

AM I OBLIGATED TO HIRE YOU AFTER THE CONSULT?

Not at all! There is no obligation to continue working together if it's not the right fit. And we do think you'll learn valuable information in our time together even if that's all we do.

CAN I BRING MY SPOUSE?

You can attend your consult alone or with your spouse. As you go through the divorce process, your spouse will either need to retain their own counsel or represent themselves, but both spouses are welcome to attend the consult to meet us and hear more about the process.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?

If you've already signed an agreement, do bring that. Otherwise, just bring yourself and your questions.

OUR ADDRESS

Two Families Law is located inside of a beautiful, historic home at 1812 Chapel Hill Road in the Lakewood neighborhood of Durham, not far from the Scrap Exchange. Look for our bright yellow building and park in the lot just out front. We share space with a company called Datu, so you'll see their sign first. When you arrive, you can ring the doorbell at the front door and we'll meet you there. We keep the building locked for safety and quiet for all inside.
